There was too much to see and do in NY to make my own rabbit plan. What a lot of rabbits do they have over there.

A nun with carrots and what to do?

There was quiet a silent period for the rabbits.

This summer in Helsinki I came to the point some really interesting things were happening. But behind my back of course and I don’t have a camera crew to follow.

So I felt stuck in the project.

I see people with their phones taking pictures of me, pretending they are not.

And then this nun shows up from behind me and starts running towards me with the carrots.

It had nothing to with me but the coincidence was so big and the combination (me and the rabbit) and her with the carrots was super.

But we could not capture it.

So I’ am left a little clue less what to do next to make it all work.

Best thing is see what happens so I’ am taking a rabbit to New York next week.

It will be hopping around town especially Brooklyn between 21 till 28 December with me or other persons???. And see if I can discover a new trail for the project!

I thought I was going to show the Finland trip in a logical order.

But since I was in Belgium yesterday this whole story came up.

May be it is a discussion on more campgrounds. Why do some people put their tent so close that you can hear them breath?

Are they crazy or what was the first what came out of my mouth. And yes I said it out loud. And Yes they can understand my language!

From Delft to Finland and back.

It all started on the 1st of July in my old Volvo.

On the way through Germany to the ferry to Denmark.

From there on we would travel to Sweden and Finland.

Tent and bikes on board and many miles to go.

And seeing the rain fall on the window for hours.

The project art on the move has had many different formats.

While it all started with a dream to travel around the world with my artworks and be my own walking museum / gallery.

But I thought this was so complicated, so I tried different other formats first.

I enjoyed the experiment were people took a rabbit on tour enormous

Seeing the photo’s and film of that part of the project from all over the world was so inspiring and I met a lot of new people. Seen places on the planet I’ve never been to.

Made some real funny videos with Iris Rethy she invited a rabbit for a swim in the seawho took and Ionica Smeets who explained some theories about networks. Jaap Mulder made the video rabbit old and new.

But since the cultural climate in the Netherlands is chancing my old plan seems to follow me around.

What the whole cultural confusion woke up in me is the strong feeling and desire that I love to be free and independent.

As a person and as an artist and no one can take that away from me.

The rabbit concept gives me the opportunity to be my own free walking around gallery and promotion platform for my own work. I can be my own sponsor and find new ways to share my art.

And no I cannot travel all year, but I’ am on the way a lot. So in this year of the rabbit I want to make a fresh start.

With the work title “Rabbits telling stories” I pick up my rabbits and go.

And start a new episode of the project. And answer my own call.

This weekend we leave in the direction of Denmark’s museum for modern art Louisiana, Helsinki (Kiasma), Jyväskylä, Kalmar, Archipelago national park and a few other places in Scandinavia.

New York around Christmas is a journey I will try to put together after the summer, with the Netherlands in between.

I hope the rabbits can create an inspiring story again.

(In Dutch we have a song” rabbit and me are very best friends, my rabbit and me we belong together. That is a good start of this new episode.)

The nice thing about this project is you meet new people.

Sometimes you keep in touch.

And some times you have an opportunity to see them.

Last weekend I had the wonderful option to meet one of the first rabbit art on the move joiners Merryn Kritzinger.

She lives in Montreal (Canada) and I live in Delft (Netherlands).

Yesterday she performed with Cas Public the dance company were she works in Düsseldorf (Germany).

So we stepped in the car and drove to Düsseldorf.

Besides seeing each other we had the bonus to see her perform on stage.

Social networks and my Art

After sharing the rabbit blog with my atelier and workshop information it is time to move on.

The rabbit blog is for the rabbit project and the people who have an art adventure rabbit. They join the experiment how art, social networks and travelling all over the planet can lead to a new approach for art owners and art presentations and that deserves an own platform.

I started this” Art on the move project” with free rabbit artworks. Ionica Smeets gave 2 fun lectures about networks on youtube with one of the art rabbits.

The theory worked she activated her network and over the 1000 viewers watched my youtube site. That is fun, but now the next step: Besides viewers connect with new customers. But how? Can social media do that also?

Mostly I’ am a little confused by all the social media networks. People talk a lot about how big their network is, and sometimes I wonder if everybody is more into collecting connections like my own old stamp collection. It is very rarely that people tell, how their work benefits from the social networks and what they are doing.

Since free rabbits disappear too fast they are up for sale and sponsorships.

Cake workshop turns out to be ice-cream workshop

I was planning and preparing my cake workshop but I guess ice-cream is inspiring to me as cake.

(May be the sunny weather has something to do with it!)

Paint concert workshop

We perform this workshop with all kind of groups from children to adults.

The first weekend of April Jaap and I are in Paris. We are looking for an opportunity to do a paint concert over there. Or show our video Lisettes Lunettes with live music.

Next week we start to contact people we know in Paris. But if there are people who have suggestions for us please let us know!

7 boys workshop (workshop update)

Because they had a day off from school, one of the mothers asked me to organise a workshop o. This means that I sent you some options for a program and you can choose the time. This group choose the Hundertwasser workshop were every body makes a house. These workshops are organized for children minimal 4 max 7 workshops from €7,50 to €10, - per person. For adults the workshops are longer and the prices go from €17,50 till €25, -

A few example for workshops on request are “Paint like” I have these programs for adults and children, we look at the work from an artist and we are going to paint in the style. Vincent van Gogh, Hundertwasser and Cobra are very favourite! But also the water lily workshop inspired by the works of Monet. After looking at the big water lily painting on a wall in Delft, we paint the water lilies in the canals around my atelier.

Very special is a painting concert, I organise them on request with musician Jaap Mulder. This workshop is also possible on location as long as there are tables and chairs. In my atelier minimal 10 persons ( price on request).

* Jaap and I are in Paris the first weekend of April intrested in a painting concert or our glasses video project (Lisettes Lunettes). You can always contact me for information.

The school asked us for a workshop from 2x11/2 hour for a group of 12 children

The teacher and a class assistant were present to help us.

It was wonderful! They enjoyed it so very much and we did too so can’t wait till next week for part 2.

Film festival and Chinese New Year

This morning 10.05 Rotterdam Film festival.

While we were waiting for the film to start a guy filming himself with a cuddly animal (cat??) entered but he was too far down on a seat to ask him what he was doing.

I thought about my rabbitartonthemoveproject and wanted to talk to him. We had to leave fast for the start of the Chinese New Year in The Hague. Now I left a message on the wall from the festival who knows cat meets rabbits project coming up ???

Preparing for the year of the rabbit

Mmm so much information about this rabbit year I choose the most positive story. I have no clue what to do myself with my rabbits. But maybe a rabbit year provides some clarity. And a lot of fun.

2011 is the Year of the Golden Rabbit, which begins on February 3, 2011 and ends on January 22, 2012. The Rabbit is a lucky sign. Rabbits are private individuals and a bit introverted. People born in the Year of the Rabbit are reasonably friendly individuals who enjoy the company of a group of good friends. They are good teachers, counselors and communicators, but also need their own space.

According to Chinese tradition, the Rabbit brings a year in which you can catch your breath and calm your nerves. It is a time for negotiation. Don't try to force issues, because if you do you will ultimately fail. To gain the greatest benefits from this time, focus on home, family, security, diplomacy, and your relationships with women and children. Make it a goal to create a safe, peaceful lifestyle, so you will be able to calmly deal with any problem that may arise.

Not many people know that the Rabbit is the symbol of the Moon, while the Peacock is the symbol of the Sun, and that together, these two animal signs signify the start of day and night, represent the Yin and Yang of life. It is said that anyone making supplications for wishes to be fulfilled are certain to get what they want... and in the Year of the Rabbit, the wish-granting aspect of the Sun and the Moon combined is multiplied. The Moon is YIN and this is the Yin of Heaven, signifying magic. Thus on each of the Full Moon nights of this year, go out into your garden to gaze into the Full Moon and visualize plenty of Moon dust and Moon glow flowing into you, filling your whole body with bright white light and granting you fearlessness, love and courage. year of the rabbit

So last blog for this year.

It’s time for me to disappear in snowy woods and on frozen lakes.

May be seeing a snow rabbit (never seen one). And come back when all parties are over.

And then when 2011 comes, how wonderful 3 February 2011 starts the Chinese year of the rabbit!

The art concept Rabbits telling stories is the concept I worked on like no other the last 9 years.

Thanks to a lot of people all over the world I had a great time seeing how much fun moving rabbit artworks are.

Some one asked me what I’ am going to do in this very special rabbit year.

And if I could work miracles, I would like to have 100 sponsored rabbits travelling all over the planet.

That’s my wish for 2011. If you have good suggestions how I can manage to make this idea happen. I’ am always happy with good advise and ideas.

Wish every one who reads this blog a very merry Christmas and a magic 2011.

Sinds mijn site te wensen over laat hier op mijn blog nieuwe informatie over de verschillende activiteiten van mijn atelier.

Een van die activiteiten is workshops.

Naast workshops in eigen atelier, verzorg ik ook workshops op locatie.

Afgelopen jaar werkte ik o.a voor de Brede school Gouda met mijn programma voor kleuters.

Inmiddels heb ik 2 kleuter programma's "maken en doen" en "mijn monster en ik".

In februari 2011 start ik via de Brede school met muzikant Jaap Mulder aan onze eerste schilder concerten op locatie.

Voor het Koorenhuis in Den Haag verzorg ik een deel van de zeefdruk workshops voor middelbare scholieren.

En voor de Groen Ateliers van de stichting Forum hield ik een workshop " gedroomd groen".

Deelnemers mochten naar aanleiding van mood-boards een gedroomde groenruimte vormgeven in een maquette.

Waarna er een presentatie werd gehouden van de mood-boards en de maquettes.

In eigen atelier organiseer ik vooral workshops op maat.

Mensen maken er samen of met hun familie een eigen kunstwerk.

Kleine groepen werken aan verschillende onderwerpen als een stilleven schetsen en schilderen, mono druktechnieken op paneel, schilderen met inkt enz.

Teveel om op te noemen is er mogelijk.

Wie vooral alleen wil werken of samen met iemand, maar wie zelf de ruimte niet heeft kan het atelier ook per dagdeel huren.

Vraag vrijblijvend naar de mogelijkheden en prijzen.

A Dutch post this time. It is the invitation for the open day in my atelier in Delft 7 October from 10 till 10. The presentation is called blueprint.

At the end of the month we will have an English online magazine about the presentation and I will post it of course.

The video shows my work ( 2 teapots with fish) at the housingfair in Amsterdam last week.

BLAUWDRUK
De term blauwdruk is in de loop van de tijd ook de term geworden, waarmee een nog niet uitgevoerd ontwerp van iets wordt aangeduid.
Blauwdruk betekent in figuurlijke zin plan van uitvoering.

Op 7 oktober is mijn atelier geopend voor bezoekers en ben je van harte welkom om eens rond te kijken tijdens de presentatie BLAUWDRUK.

Mijn atelier ontwikkelt concepten op diverse gebieden.
Zoals borduren in de openbare ruimte, de vilt concepten Stilte en over de kudde, sieraden van cement, en de grafische concepten en prints van art on the move, bluebirds en blueprints en de decor serie.

Daarnaast organiseer ik in het atelier workshops op maat voor kleine groepen tot 10 personen. Of voor grotere groepen op locatie.
Zo is er komend najaar een schilder concert met muzikant Jaap Mulder van Di Gojim.
Hier in Delft vooral bekent als straat muzikant, die prachtig klarinet speelt.
En een combinatie workshop rond het werk van Frida Kalho waarbij een dagworkshop schilderen wordt gecombineerd met een theater voorstelling in Maassluis van Helmert Woudenberg.

Laat je inspireren door de concepten en ideeën die het atelier ontwikkeld.
Sommige concepten werden al deels gepresenteerd, zo werd het borduren van een brug 3e bij een ontwerp wedstrijd van de gemeente Delft.
En stonden de theepotten uit de installatie Dutch Breakfast vorige week in het huis van Ariadne at Home op de woonbeurs in Amsterdam.

Mijn atelier aan het Oosteinde 149 is te bezoeken op donderdag 7 oktober van 10 tot 10 uur.

Teapot?

There are times it is funny how things come together.

The rabbit was having an exiting meeting with a nice seal in the harbor some were on the island Skye.

We decided to have some scones in a very sweet B&B who has a kind of living room restaurant.

I had the picture in mind, the rabbit, the scones, and a teapot………..

But when our order came hahaha I forgot that I did order hot chocolate!

They don’t put that in a teapot.

This week I’ am all busy with teapots. I had printed some of my fishpots for the housingfair in Amsterdam. You can find them in the blue and white house from Ariadne at Home.

I’am so exicted about it and have all kind of ideas to develop more theapot shapes for my décor series.

Ooh and I remember this: Ariadne also passed in the secret trail story from Scotland.

Skye

After the last walk the clouds and rain were present all the time.

This was the only morning we were not so happy with the weather conditions and our wet tent, shoes, socks, trousers etc.

But when we arrived at the ferry to Skye, the sun started to shine, they sold nice warm cappuccino, we could wait in lane six cause we didn’t make any reservations. They told us to say a prayer and it worked. There was room for our car; the sun was out, beautiful clouds, dolphins swimming along the ferry. By the time we arrived at the campground everything was dry.

A secret trail

It is hard work walking here along the shore of Log Lomond.

On the way back we found this meters and meters of thin white thread on the trail.

It was not there on the way up. And it ended some were in the bushes?

West Highland Way

We stayed on http://www.beinglascampsite.co.uk and walked up and down the trail a little.

First day the goal was having tea at the tearoom at the station in Crianlarich. (24 km) It was raining just a little, but it was not cold. On the way back it was dry.

I think it is no problem to walk up and down cause the clouds change the landscape every minute.

And I found out 2 things I didn’t know.

This is a very tourist place.

And I have a complete wrong idea about getting married in Gretna Green.

I have seen warning signs for red squirrels, otters,and older people crossing the road.

We also know now that we are not allowed to take of our walking boots or socks in the pub. Or clean gaiters in the washing room.

Besides pictures the rabbits are bringing in so much more. Drawings, a placemat from Georgia. I also had the luck Iris took home a wonderful recipe from Georgian pesto. It is my favorite pesto these days.

Japan is still interesting to me. The rabbit in Japan disappeared but I found this very funny cooking video. And I love the bunny shaped apple.

Since last week postcards from the project are favorite by tourists passing my studio. I’ am very curious what they do with the cards they pick up.

The whole rabbit experiment is now " try outing" for nearly a year. In first I had the idea to sent 7 free copies to every continent but now I see how easy free art works disappear, I’ am not shore any more.

At the first presentation at HKK galleries in The Hague friends were surprised I didn’t sell them cause the other rabbits on the wall were up for sale. One of my friends thought it might be fun to print personal rabbits on request for people. Because my rabbits also have personal prints. (That will happen in the future but for that I have to think about prices, and the fact not all photos are good to transform into a print. Let’s not talk about the fact it has to fit on a rabbit.

The move rabbits are still a fun artwork. You can take them outside, look at the blog were other rabbits are. But also put them on the wall (coat hanger included). (Please don’t swim with them, this swimming rabbit had layers and layers of boat paint on who damaged the print, but that is not visible on the pictures.)

Well to day, I’ am going to bring the first for sale rabbit to HKK galleries Denneweg 64 The Hague. Opening member’s exhibition is 17.00 this Saturday June 19, and I will be there for a while.

And also on my pages from www.saatchi-gallery.co.uk Look at salesroom and Liset van Dommelen. My atelier in Delft also will start with selling portable rabbits.Sales price is €125,- + stamps to sent them. Or you can visit the atelier on appointment.

This rabbit had a great time in Holland. She has a cute friend “The Dutch purple rabbit”.They are out on a wonderful trip. Here the start on the way from Maastricht in the direction of The Hague by train.

We were invited to have a look at the work from Hiroko Shitate in gallery 173 Svartmangatan 25. Beautiful knitting work hanging in the air.

I also love the work of Tomas Saraceno in Bonniers Konsthall. He made up for a day being at the wrong place at the wrong moment.

First we wanted to see “Fotografiska “the photo museum. Too bad but our guide didn’t mention they are building the museum and it is not yet finished. From there next try, the well-known Kulturhuset. That place was filled inside and outside with hundreds of people having an audition for Idols. It started to rain. But we had a great time.

Een rechter in Haarlem heeft met verbazing gereageerd op het feit dat een vrouw uit Amsterdam die een rechtszaak voerde over een konijn, gratis rechtshulp heeft gekregen. De rechter die de zaak behandelde stelt dat expliciet in zijn vonnis. De Amsterdamse had een kort geding aangespannen omdat zij meer informatie wilde over haar konijn Punkie dat zij ruim een jaar geleden had overgedragen aan een inwoonster van Wormerveer. Die nieuwe eigenaar weigerde onlangs het voormalige baasje te vertellen of Punkie nog leeft en waar hij verblijft. Om het proces te kunnen voeren heeft de Amsterdamse een zogeheten toevoeging gekregen.

Friday 30 April we had a new phenomena.Two rabbits on the move at the same time.

The first rabbit had a good time celebrating the Dutch queens birthday in the Netherlands.

The other one went to Amsterdam airport for a trip to Sweden. The Swedish king also celebrates his birthday the same day. But we got the impression that the celebration of the start of spring was more the reason to party.

The girl is phoning some more friends to come to their party. Sad enough she was our neighbour on a campground in Uppsala, and the noise they made was terrible.

The rabbit in Georgia joined an exhibition. Natuka Vacadze and group Bouillon had a great exhibition.You can look at the blog http://groupbouillon.blogspot.com/ (I think you have to cut and paste). So you can see more about the work in the exhibition and learn more about group bouillon.

In the meantime a rabbit celebrated the queens birthday in the Netherlands, while an other was visiting Sweden. There is a lot of movement going on at the moment.

Iris and Jan in Georgia (the end)

Well that is not correct I’ am afraid.

Iris came home earlier and is in the Netherlands, but Jan is one of the people who couldn’t fly home because of the volcano thing in Iceland.

But here a girl in Signagi east of Tbilisi, Jan at the hairdressers and Iris at a thermal evaporation bath.

This rabbit is now with Natuka Vatsadze from group Bouillon in Georgia. We showed her photos at Easter. So now it is going to be a big surprise which rabbit is going to show up and where.

In the meantime I want to thank Jan and Iris for all the photos and contacts and I look forward to meet them and have my first Georgian vegetarian dinner in May.

New rabbits and news

Before we have more pictures from Georgia some news.

For a presentation I made the hand rabbit. I think I will take it with me to Sweden at the end of the month. I have no time to contact people before I leave cause I have lots of workshops these days. But I think I will wear it a lot and see what happens. This rabbit is leaving from Amsterdam airport the 30^th of April (if we can fly) and will drive from Stockholm to Skelleftea and back . From 7 April till 9 April I will stay in Stockholm. Lots of ideas what to do but we will see what happens if we are there.

Ionica Smeets has put one of the videos we made together with a rabbit on her blog www.wiskundemeisje.nl and had 600 people watching her video last week! (blog is in Dutch, the video in English)

I also made a rabbit for the dutchpurplerabbit . The rabbit is going there by networking so I brought it to my cousin and from there his sister takes it to Maastricht were Nynke picks up the rabbit.

Friday night I brought it to my cousin in Rotterdam and asked one of my cousins roommates through the intercom to open the door cause my rabbit didn’t fit in the mailbox. The poor roommate had no idea were I was talking about and thought I was an idiot.

I love the funny misunderstandings about the rabbits, and that the network thing is going faster as I thought.

I’ am not showing the photos in the same order she sends them, I start at the tourist information. That is always a good start when you travel.

We see Esther Helena from Estonia who just traveled in China with her boy friend and Tamuna who works at the tourist information. I don’t know who is who. But I show all 3 pictures Iris made from these ladies in case they look at the blog. Cause we all know, when you see your self on a photo mostly you would say: ooooooooh know I look terrible. So it is hard to make the choice for them. May be I hear which one they like best????

From Amsterdam the rabbit had a nice flight to Riga in Latvia.

There Jan and Iris had to wait quiet a while again.

But with a rabbit there is enough to explore at an airport.

Iris and I were surprised about the showcase.

No they don’t sell dead bears etc. in Riga.

This showcase contains things you are not allowed to import in the country.

I wonder are dead bears very popular to have in Latvia? People try to import them all the time?

I have already problems to get everything in my backpack for my trip to Sweden at the end of the month. My sleeping back is quite big and I have to bring it, so what about this bear thing in your suitcase??

Back to the Airport

Yesterday I had an appointment with Iris Rethy to pick up her photos. I felt like it was my birthday and I was getting this wonderful present.

I also emailed with Marina from www.gallery9.ge in Tbilisi. She met Iris and Jan in Georgia. And she has a really nice gallery.

Also had a very nice chat with Nienke from the blog thedutchpurplerabbit.blogspot.com You will see in the future were this was about. At this point it is our little secret.

I was very surprised Iris gave me all her pictures wow!. When I came home I spent most of my time starring at the computer in adoration. To show all pictures at once is too much. So I will show you piece by piece.

From Georgia we return to the beginning of the journey of this rabbit at the airport in Amsterdam! Iris had put the rabbit in her hand luggage.

Every body knows that you spent quiet some time waiting at airports. So a rabbit is quiet a good tool to explore this places, and have fun.

All these pictures are made at Schiphol bij Iris Rethy.

Next time we will see, the time they had to wait at Riga Airport (Latvia).

What a wonderful eastern morning surprise.The rabbit is with Natuka Vacadze from group bouillon and her family. Sorry for late answer she writes but besides Iris I never had such a fast response! Thanks a lot Natuka.

She writes about future plans with this rabbit. “My group is planning to make an exhibition next week. I think the rabbit will take part in it. Of course I will send you photos from this exhibition and maybe also the video.

After our exhibition we are planning to send the rabbit to Armenia or Azerbaijan where I know artists, which will be in interest in this project. There are also my good friends and the rabbit will be ok!

I think it’s great. At this moment I’ am struggling with a print on a rabbit. This one will also go to a presentation next week.

Or rabbit like they say it in Georgia.Here is the first picture from Iris Rethy on her way to Georgia. The picture is made at Schiphol airport Amsterdam.

She left this kurdgeli in the hands of Georgian artist Natuka who is a member of group Bouillon. The Dutch embassy gave us her address.

Next week I will meet Iris and we will exchange the rest of the photos she made. Iris lives in my hometown and we know each other, but there are also people who bring a rabbit some were, I don’t know. We meet to exchange the rabbit. And that’s it.

Last 2 weeks I was very surprised my hotmail mailbox didn’t receive any mail.But after being hacked I closed it to well and no mail reached me. And I could not find it back. So I hope that if I missed your rabbit mail. Please send it again. You also can use ark-art@planet.nl

I’ am so curious these days.Yesterday a rabbit arrived in Georgia.The starter comes back to Delft the 1 of April (no joke). I love her work as a photographer and I cannot wait to see what she did. And if I get a glimpse of Georgia a country I don’t know at all.And what will happen with the rabbit when she leaves. In Georgia the Dutch embassy was so nice to give us the names of some people we could contact.

Of course I would love to find out what happened to the rabbit in Japan. Is it still there or did it go to an other country.Did I miss some mail or was this a very short chain from starter directly in to the garbage can. Or hanging on some ones wall who doesn’t speak English and has no clue what to do.

You must know that the Georgian rabbit has instructions on it’s back. The one in Japan hasn’t. I’ am still fine tuning the concept how it would work the best.

Making a rabbit for Georgia,

Last month we had a surch for photo material from my mother. My father died in December who kept the photos we were looking for in his workplace.But it was all gone????

For Georgia I had a music rabbit in mind. Tribute to my mum.My mother was a music teacher and singer with a beautiful alto. Her voice is the most dominant memory I have of her. Cause it is a beautiful warm voice.

Iris (photographer), and Jan (singer) , (who are visiting Tbilisi next week) and my mother on a rabbit would make a good trio for the project.

The pictures from my parents are extra special cause my parents don’t have that much photos because my father was a very bad photographer. And my mother doesn’t even know how a camera works. She is not interested in making pictures at all.

But my mother searched and found a picture from her self as the conductor from the church choir in le Pouzin France. They lived in a small village close to le Pouzin for more than 20 years and she plaid the organ in church and conducted the church choir. She also handed her tuning fork over to me. So you see each printed rabbit has a very personal story.

I had to cut the picture a little into peaces.That’s the problem with the rabbit shapes. Most pictures are not made to fit on the rabbit. And to make a print out of it was not simple. It looks like a print of a very old picture, were peaces changed color.

The hare on the photo is a gift from my daughter Lune. She gave it to me this weekend. Oke it is not a rabbit but a good luck symbol of a hare. But we call it a lucky rabbit .

I love the little backpack on its back. I always have small and big backpacks and was a backpack teacher for several years. This is an extra teacher to support handicaped children on normal primary schools. I assisted 2 boys with Down syndrome.

My daughter received the hare and a big bottle of proseco for finding some ones Iphone last Saturday night. In the backpack of the hare was a little note. So sweet.

Today I took my camera with me to the graphic workplace Prints in The Hague (Netherlands). That’s were I make my screens for silkscreen printing. I planned to make photo’s from the print I’ am going to make for the Georgian rabbit, who will go Georgia the 23 of March. But I was completely under the spell of the ghosts on the screen like we silkscreen printers call this.

These prints I made last year but their ghost remains a little on the screen. I love it.

Arrived in Japan

Thanks to Ronald here are the first rabbit pictures from the rabbit that arrived in Japan.Made on 14 Th. of February Valentines-day! Isn't that a romatic trip fot my rabbit.

The photo is made in Hakone.There are hot springs (Onsen in Japanese).And the rabbit host says they are great.

I don’t doubt it and wished I was the rabbit. I would jump right in.But I love the mountain and the snow too!

The sign on the mountain means (big or Large). I hope it means a large number of people will join the project over there.

The rabbit is now in the hands of an American artist so I’ am really curious what is going to happen. I mean that’s the fun. I sent a rabbit to Japan and it ends in the good hands of an American. I have no clue how they met, and what will happen with my bunny…………………………………..

But that makes this project so exciting and fun.

Why my friends have more friends ( and why that is great!)

For a project like this several researches about networks are interesting to know.

With the help of mathematician Ionica Smeets I made 2 videos about those subjects. Imagine :" My friends have more friends than I have". And there is proof they do! For this project and expanding my networks that is very good to know. Assuming my friends will help me. And I can tell you they do. !!!! As soon as I have enough sponsors (just started that part of the project) and maybe a grant I think it is not going to be 1 rabbit on each continent but then it will be a rabbit explosion all over the planet.

Yesterday morning I had my appointment with mathematician Ionica Smeets.

She helped me by giving 2 small lectures about the subjects: Why do your friends have more friends. I mean that is always nice to know when you start a project like this. And the 6 handshakes. But to be honest there are cases of fewer handshakes. It actually happened during lunchtime at the university when Ionica spotted a colleague, just eating a big salad.

She had informed him about the project, and he is the type of person that travels a lot and is willing to participate in projects of people he doesn’t know. Before I knew it I gave the rabbit Ionica and I were using for the videos to him. After 2 weeks it is on the way to Tokyo.

I also had the opportunity to give her, her birthday present. It was a little late, well very late.But if you happen to see a mathematician giving a speech in her pyjamas it must be Ionica!

These ladies study LSD at the Willem de Kooning in Rotterdam the Netherlands. And as you see they took this rabbit out there for a new magazine they have to create.

So while I stare at my computer screen all day, writing and fill in all kind of papers and forms for an allowance for the project. ( you don’t want to know how this works over here.) My rabbit is having more fun in Rotterdam.

This one has a new appointment scheduled next Wednesday. Mathematician and one of the "mathematician girls", wiskunde meisje Ionica Smeets is giving me 2 little private lectures at the University of Leiden.

This is the WDK rabbit as I call it. Friday it is going on a trip to the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam. Second year’s lifestyle and design have to create new magazines and my rabbit project is joining one of these projects.

Last Sunday evening we had an interview. Jolanda had the tough task to make photographs of me. I am the kind of person who freezes as soon as I see a camera.

I think the rabbit is going to a meeting with their teachers but I’ am not shore. Well I’ll see what happens.

One thing I want to improve at the moment is the way you have to carry them. A little bit more fancy and surprising ways to carry the rabbits would be nice. And it is also very important that the straps or belts are adjustable.

The pictures and print comes from one of the things I love to do, and that is making long hikes. Here I’ am wearing shoes and covers to stop the leeches from cowling up. This time I was not the most wanted person for the leeches, so I really enjoyed walking in the Nam Cat Tien national park in Vietnam.

Delft-Amsterdam, missed the Queen

I decided to take one of my rabbits out for a day to see what it is like all those people behind your back.

It is 7 in the morning and I’ am on my way to the station.You see me walking very close to a wall. A layer of ice all over the streets and bridges in Delft. So I’ am happy I made it to the station.

There were trains, what is not shore when weather conditions go a little extreme over here. Oke the sign said this was the train to Leiden, but it proved it was Amsterdam Central station. Yes that was exactly were I wanted to go.

I accompanied my husband to watch some youth theater cause he is buying new shows for next theater season. After 5 dance and theater shows we were done. With a lot of ideas and probably a nice play for School Theater we walked to the station. But around the Palace on the Dam it was crowed with police. And guess what, the Queen was having her new years reception and we were just too late to see the royal family and ministers going inside. Aaah how nice would it be to ask if they want to pose with one of my rabbits.

In fact once, we had a king not related to the house of Orange. He was Napoleons brother. So he was French but tried to talk Dutch.If you are French the Dutch word for king (koning) is hard to say and to him it sounded like “konijn”. And “konijn” means rabbit so he called him self Rabbit of Holland. Mmmm may be I have to think about an orange rabbit. But can I ask the king to be to wear it?

A happy, healthy, fun rabbit year.

2010 is the year of the rabbit for me!

After a rabbit silent period it is time to start 2010 with new plans and ideas. Appointments I had to skip are in my agenda for the next moths. We are working on a plan to have a rabbit on every continent this year. And are looking for support.

Are you willing to start a chain reaction with a rabbit especially people living in or traveling to South America, Africa, Australia/Oceanie and Antarctica please contact us. Or maybe you are traveling and willing to take a rabbit from one location to an other.

The idea is that we sent you a portable rabbit as long as your continent has no rabbit. You start the chain by taking the rabbit out and make pictures, a video, a drawing, a poem, or a story about your adventure and sent it to ateliervandommelen@hotmail or ark-art@planet.nl. Of course we screen the material if it is appropriate to watch for every age!

When you are done give the rabbit to some one else with the same instructions.May be you meet some one while making your trip with the rabbit who wants to participate?

Don’t be scarred your rabbit ends up in a garbage can cause that’s all in the game. But it will be fun to see were we can make the longest chain and see on the blog were the rabbit is!

Although the opening of the art on the move/rabbit road movie in The Hague was a big success. And there are a lot activities coming up in 2010. Some meetings and rabbit exchanges didn’t happen because my father was seriously ill for a while. Last week in the age of 93 he died in his sleep at home.

It was a very special time. So I share one of the rabbits I made for my dad .The text is in Dutch but it is John 15 verse 12 from my wedding bible as it is given from generation to generation.

At the end of the month I will continue the rabbit project.

Right now I’ am printing a skate artwork with the help of people and children who work in my atlier and my own children. The work can be seen in Delft at the Beestenmarkt and will be up for sale for charity at the 4^th of January in Delft.

Speeding up the rabbit production and a new photo from students Lune and Michèle .

This week I can announce the first presentation of the project! I can use the showcase from the gallery Haagse Kunst Kring in The Hague the Netherlands for a first impression of the project and also some of the original art works.

Who happens to be in the Netherlands at the 21 of November between 16.00 and 17.00 at the gallery from the Haagse Kunst Kring Denneweg 64 The Hague we open the presentation. And will inform you about the project with some warm carrot soup.

At the gallery are 2 take away rabbits available till the 28th of December.You are very welcome to take one out for a day, so you can and join the project.

If you are fast I will put your photos, in the showcase from the gallery as long as there is room. And of course also on my blog or, inform people were we can see them if you want to show them on your own blog or other places.

The people who join me in the showcase are the very first people who participated together with friends, colleagues and family. Some people like Lune and Henk Kuipers are my family.

Merryn, Hope and the people in their pictures I met for the first time this summer at the artist in residence program in Delft and they were the very first to respond to the idea. It is a great experience so far and I am happy we are able to inform more and more people.

In November Margo Bruininkx starts a chain reaction in Hengelo (the Netherlands). The 28th of November I give her the rabbit.

But………………..and that is why I’ am speeding up my rabbit production this week. The next step in the process is , 5 new rabbits and try to start rabbit chain reactions on each continent.

Europe and North America already have a rabbit for a chain reaction so I’ am looking for people in Asia, Oceania/Australia, South America, Africa and………………Antarctica. I forgot that was the 7^th continent. Wauw, Antarctica doesn’t sound easy to reach but you never know.

To keep the expenses for sending the rabbits around low, I will make a list on the blog every now and then of places were I have connections traveling too so we can exchange the rabbit.

Who thinks I ‘am printing rabbits day after day.No of course not! These days I ‘am printing art money!.

That is so nice, printing your own money. Love it. They are going to an exhibition in Arden Denmark. Who wants to know more about it www.art-money.org The idea is from Lars Kreammer who started the whole thing.

An other favorite topic is cats. This week I printed a big cat for the living room. I really don’t like our very ugly TV and to music I don’t listen very much. So I made the cat to make the place look funny. I like to make huge printed forms, like pieces from a decor in a theatre, so I can create my own world

The prints I use are made from my own pictures. I have lots and lots of pictures, and have a camera with me very often

Underwear and other rabbit adventures

Because I’ am collecting pictures for a presentation in the showcase from the Haags Kunst Kring. (Opening with carrot soup 21 November 16.00 till 17.00 uur Denneweg 64 The Hague Netherlands). An unknown picture from Canada shows up at my computer. And that is what makes this project so much fun.

You see photos with your artwork some were on this planet and lots of questions pop up in your mind. Were did they take this picture??? Is it their underwear, or are they in a store? I thought they were shopping or did they take the rabbit to an other place?

I love to see my work become part of all kind of new stories and events. Sometimes it feels like I’ am watching a movie but I have no clue how the story is going to unfold.

That unknown unfolding process is exactly what is happening to the project all the time. This week is waiting for answers.

May be some more rabbits have to travel to Canada. Is this really going to happen?? And how do we get them over there?

So I find my self writing a sponsor letter to an airline while I think these people will think I’ am a total freak. I never wrote a sponsor letter in my life and I think I try too much. Cause besides flying my rabbits to Stockholm were a nice Canadian can pick them up and bring them to Canada if the whole shows goes on there. My mind is already thinking about pilots, cabin crew, passengers, and airports full of rabbits.So I try to get them interested both ways.

I also try to imagine how many rabbits will fit in a 2-kilo parcel. Well I never make art per kilo so I have no clue!. Sending them is also an option, but not so much fun as flying, or let them travel with other sorts of transports. Trains, buses, cars, boats, oooh in my mind I can think of so much options and ideas. One thing is sure 21 of November the first presentation.

The first rabbit photos from the very first chain reaction try are a fact.

Merryn Kritzinger took a rabbit to Canada Montreal and asked her sister

to carry it.

As you can imagine I was over the moon to see my rabbit having a good time in Montreal.

3 and 4 October my atelier at Oosteinde 149 Delft Netherlands is open for visitors from 12.00 till 18.00. In the front window there will be a permanent exhibition of incoming pictures and information.

Sea Rabbit

Photographer Iris Rethy sent me a wonderful email after I informed her about my project.

She had put a list together with activities she could do with the rabbit. And asked kindly what the rabbit would prefer. Cycle, or watch a movie, or swim. Well swim of course!

I had no clue if I could protect the artwork enough, but the idea was great.

On a wonderful day in August we drove to the sea.We both had expected the beach to be filled with people. But when I parked the car it started to rain. Not very hard and it was also still warm. But we could see lots of people pack and go home.

Dancing rabbits

It was a lovely Sunday morning in July 2009 in the Poptahof Delft. When I had my first rabbits out on the open air.

Unfortunate the wind was blowing a little loud through Henning’s Goetzkes wonderful music. So the video sound is a little imperfect. I hope we will find a way to fix it, cause it was great.

Canadian dancers Jasmine Ellis and Merryn Krizinger performed 4 times with the bunnies.

It was a pity that a young boy was stopped by his older brother when he wanted to run into the scene.

Not visible are dance photographer Hope Davis from New York and theater manger Henk Kuipers from Delft Netherlands they took pictures.
